Packing Your Family Bag

Welcome to our guide on creating the ultimate swim family bag for those long, exhilarating days at the pool! As dedicated swim parents and supporters, we understand the importance of being well-prepared while cheering on your swimmer.

In this comprehensive guide, we’ll walk you through the essential items to pack in your family bag to ensure comfort, convenience, and enjoyment during those extended hours at the pool.

From snacks to entertainment and everything in between, let’s make sure your swim family is equipped for a day of excitement and unwavering support.

Here is a list of the things you will need…

  • Back Pack
  • Highlighters
  • Phone Charger or Battery
  • Money (or Snacks)
  • Kids Activities
  • Stadium Seats or Cushions
  • Cool Clothes

Back Pack

I always pack a backpack for myself and the family with some essentials. Being prepared will make the day go smoother and will be less stressful.

Highlighters

Bring a few highlighters. You will want to highlight your swimmer on the heat sheet, so you can follow along with the meet and be prepared to be the amateur videographer.

Have more than one color highlighter in case you want to follow your friend’s kids as well.

Phone Charger or Battery

Bring an extra phone battery and/or charger. You will be taking pictures and videos, so your battery may drain.

More likely you will be surfing your phone while waiting too.

Money

Cash for a heat sheet and money for food or snacks. Almost all swim meets at this age have concessions. If you want your own snacks, you can pack them in your backpack.

You also may want to have some access to money since vendors are usually present in some form.

Meet shirts, team gear, and swim accessories are often available for purchase.

Kids’ Activities

If you are bringing siblings, make sure you pack things to do. Game systems, card games, books, or whatever will keep them busy.

Stadium Seats or Cushions

Some natatoriums have actual seats, while others have metal or cement bleacher-style seating. You will want something a bit more comfortable.

Cool Clothes

Swim meets are typically hot! Make sure you are wearing cool clothes and layer during the winter season. You will be shedding those layers inside!
